Who are we?
Since its creation, ZOLITUR has decided to create a new way to practice public management, and from this perception is that we work on institutional strengthening, which has been one of the constant and permanent concerns that need to be addressed.
We continue to grow institutionally, contributing in the building of a State that answers promptly to socioeconomical growth, safety of its citizens and their properties, sustainable protection of the environent, and in harmony with its ecological capacity and the tourism potential of the zone.
VISION
By the year 2020, the Bay Islands Tourism Free Zone will be a world ranked tourism destination, having already achieved economic growth and development, thus improving the living conditions of its inhabitants and preserving its rich natural and cultural heritage, prime asset for our tourism.
MISSION
It is our mission that through the development of the Tourism Free Zone, and consolidating its legal status, we will be creating a more effective and efficient process of tax collection, we will formulate better designed regional development strategies which will be widely discussed and monitored, that will help us achieve an effective promotion of public and private investment and coordinate actions at the different instances and levels of government.
MAIN OBJECTIVE
Our main objective is to potentiate the Bay Islands Tourism Free Zone (ZOLITUR) on a basis of a regional strategy whose main focus is the development of the Zone in a balanced, sustainable and responsible way, thus contributing in the socio-economical growth, public safety, environmental awareness and preservation and the competitiveness of the Tourism Free Zone.
WHAT IS ZOLITUR?
ZOLITUR is a special fiscal and land management regimen for the department of the Bay Islands, with the exception of Cayos Cochinos archipelago.
In the Customs Regimen, it disclaims the payment of:
- Customs taxes and fees.
- Import and special charges taxes
- Sales, production, consumption or added value taxes.
- Any other type of internal tax or the payment of consular fees or duty stamps.
In the Special Fiscal and Taxes Regimen, without detriment of payment of the Real Estate Transfer Tax, Capital Profit Tax or any other fee or tax created by this law, all those that have opted to register under the Tourism Free Zone are exempted in the payment of any other tax imposed by the State of Honduras.

All individuals or companies that actively work or invest in activities such as:

- Commercial services
- Real Estate
- Construction
- Arts and crafts
- Logistics
- Direct or indirect services to tourists.
Due to the fact that this a Special Fiscal, Customs and Tax Regimen, based on investment activities, in order to enjoy these benefits, all interested must be legally constituted as either as independent trader or as a corporation.
