On July 8, 2010, the Municipal Emergency Committee of the Island of Roatan was reactivated in order to define actions to be taken to act in cases of Natural Disasters.
With the reactivation of the Committee aims to develop the strategies and conditions for a rapid and coordinated response of Local Authorities.
Municipal Mayor Julio Cesar Galindo, call upon the Municipal Authorities of the Island of Roatan and representatives of Governmental and private Institutions in this area, to form the Integrated Working Team.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Education, Health, Fire Brigade, Police Preventive the Media and Zolitur.Mayor Julio Cesar Galindo said that work together and organized to cope with any incident.

On July 28, 2010, the Administrative Organization Zolitur made a donation to the Institute of Property in Roatan Bay Islands 2 Tons Rotating Components (Compressors), amounts of the donation was Lps.9, 370; the supply is carried out by Sub-executive Director the lawyer Kendra Jones given to the registrar Javier Orlando Cabrera.

On July 30, 2010 in the locality occupied Ministréis Honduras Outreach Church for the election of the Commissioner Municipal Transparency.

On July 30, 2010 in Flowers Bay Social Center, the United Nations Program for Development in Honduras had a  presentation of the Honduras Human Development Report 2008/2009, PNUD representatives, Pablo Kuri, Carlos Aldana. the Goberner and Deputy of Bay Islands were invited  to give the closing words.

GARBAGE COLLECTORS GET CARS

Mayor Julio Cesar Galindo Sosa presented cars of solid waste collectors, with Goal to improve the service in neighborhoods and communities.
The Cars collectors, type compactors are two that will replace two vehicles that gave its life, as were many complaints from citizens.

We seek to improve services, the idea we have is to be effective, we ask to let us work because we are doing this for the welfare of the island, said the mayor.

THE OPENS TRAINING WORKSHOP IN TOURISM SECTION
BY INFOP

In the hall of ESBIR school,opened the Tourism Training Section was Led and directed by the National Vocational Training Institute (INFOP).
This workshop was attended by representatives of several chains of Hotels, Restaurants and Bars all the attention focused on tourism.

The Director of this Institution Lic.Urbina Toribio said that they seek to strengthen the country's tourism industry providing skilled manpower in different functional air companies providing this service.
Contributing to the improvement of the quality and thus the country's socioeconomic development.

The Meeting on the 9 July 2010 touched various issues and every Mayor of Bay Islands publicly reported the achievements made by the Environmental Management Program of the Bay Islands in their Municipalities.

Lic.. Ricardo Merren express a subject that is very important for the Free Tourist Zone: Referred to collect the tourist tax, arrangements were made before but here were some problems with certain institutions that engage the tourist-free zone, we were unable to agree by charging the Fee.

At present, steps were taken and it was impossible to reach agreement, they report that the rate is very high and we past the regional competition, so it is urgent and necessary that the State take a decision in this matter because it leaves the receiving area entrance that are intended to support humanity.

Dr. Nelly Jerez: Minister of Tourism: reported that it does not end, we feel that the experiences, lessons learned motivated to push reforms, regulations, projects in which they must remain part of you continuing as a community who are living here and continue to grow.

On July 22, 2010 Lobo Sosa President, attended the opening of a Desalination Plant in the community of Coxen Hole which costs 55 million lempira’s with what the people of Roatan will not suffer from the lack of drinking water.

During the ceremony, the President Lobo Sosa, received a plaque in recognition of their contribution to the project from the municipality of Roatan.
For his part, MP for the Bay Islands Romeo Silvestri, said the desalination plant is high tech and is made possible by the cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain. In the tour of President Lobo Sosa in the Bay Islands, he was accompanied by his private secretary, Reinaldo Sanchez and joined the Manager of the Autonomous Service of Aqueducts and Sewers (SANAA) Danilo Alvarado, institution that will provide technical assistance for the management of plant.

On July 27 we had the arrival of a luxurious embarkation; The EPIC qualifies as the second largest passenger ship in the fleet of Norwegian Cruise Line, arrive at the Port of Roatan in the Bay Islands at seven o'clock with six thousand passengers.

MUNICIPALITY OF ROATAN WORK BEGINS DRILLING
WELLS IN THE COMMUNITY OF MUD HOLE

As Part of social development, the Municipal Authorities of the Island of Roatan
Work began drilling wells which will supply water to various communities.

On this occasion, beginning by the community of Mud Hole, a community which has a population of about 400 people now has no safe drinking water problem.

The Municipal Councillor Mark Nelson and mayor assistant Clinton Everett stressed that this project has as main objective to provide drinking water to the families of this community, ensuring the sustainability of this service by protecting the Sources.

On Tuesday, July 10 2010 in Mahogany Bay was giving a check to the Executive Director of the Free Tourist Zone Lic. Ricardo Merren by charging the second quarter of shipping manifest for each passenger $ 2.  Total was of $249.936.00.

On Friday April 30, 2010 in the municipality of Roatan tourism sub-secretary Miss Cynthia Solomon convoked a meeting with government officials and people working in tourism, where they played several subthemes, some were;

• Passengers who landed 85%
• Passengers who made purchases in the destination 78.6%

On February 26, 2010 Syntia Solomon ex Executive Director of ZOLITUR paid first visit as New Vice Minister of Tourism to attend Administrative Commission Meeting. 

Ingeneer Norman Ochoa, Vice Minister of Environment also attended First Commission meeting at ZOLITUR.

The Administrative commission of the Bay Islands Tourirt Free Zone met on Friday March 05, 2010.

A proposal to elect the new Board of Directors for the Administrative Commission and the approval of the manuals presented by the Technical Unit, meaning a significant advance for this Unit.

A successful open town meeting between local and national government officials and citizens of the Guanaja island on Sunday February 28, 2010, brought hope for the future of this municipality of the Bay Island Tourist Free Zone.

A highway for Guanaja main topic of this important meeting.  According to Mayor Harlon Richmond Hurlston they are hoppping  for highway proyect to be financed in first Lps 80,000,000.00 ( eighty million lempiras) of  Lps. 185,000,000.00 total cost of proyect.
